THE
ASA LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE 'CHILD POWER: YOUR VOICE'
The
ASA – the national governing body involved in every element
of swimming
– today (February 9th 2009) launches a new website just for
children
and young people.
'Child Power: Your Voice' is
dedicated to children and young people already involved in swimming,
diving, synchronised swimming and water polo and for those who are
thinking about getting involved. It can be accessed by
following the
links from the homepage at www.britishswimming.org
The
site includes interviews with aquatic stars, quizzes, games,
competitions and information on the sport. Your Voice also
gives
children and young people important safeguarding information, help and
advice on who they can talk to if they are worried, concerned or upset
about anything.
The site has a secure feedback
area – which the ASA hopes children and young people will use
to share
any ideas they may have about the new website. This in turn
will
enable the ASA to build the site around the needs of our younger
members. The secure feedback area also gives our younger
members
children the opportunity to tell the ASA in confidence if they need
help.
Jane Nickerson, the ash's Director of
Operations, said: "Our main website holds a lot of important
information but is a little bit daunting for our younger members. This
is why we have created 'Child Power: Your Voice' especially with young
swimmers in mind.
"It's colourful, simplistic and
fun, as well as being informative. We have even asked visitors to get
involved right from the start by naming the Child Power fish, the main
character on the new website."
Every youngster who
suggests a name for the fish will receive a free signed Olympic poster
and the best three suggestions will be put to the public vote, with the
winner scooping a signed T-shirt from Olympic and Paralympics stars.
