Club History
Wisbech Swimming Club was formed over 100 years ago and has taught many thousands of local people to swim.
Wisbech Swimming Club has always had a
competitive side to the club with races being held in the River Nene in
the 1890’s , matches in the 1950’s and a
full competitive calendar since 1970.
The national ASA assessment panel awarded Wisbech Swimming Club Swim 21
status in the level of Skill Development on 23rd July 2006.
As Wisbech Swimming Club achieved Swim 21 status the club also
automatically met the standards of Sport England’s Clubmark
and signifies the Club’s commitment to being a safe,
effective and child-friendly sports club.
Our competitions , run under ASA law, range from in house club galas, graded friendly galas with other clubs and league galas.
The club has teams in the Junior Fenland League, Senior Fenland League , Speedo East Midlands League and the Anglian league. Many Open Meets are attended by the club including the Fenland Open Meet which the club runs in conjunction with two other local clubs.
Our swimmers take part in our Club
Championships and The County Championships. We also have squad members
who swim for the county team. Some of our Swimmers have even
qualified for the Eastern Region League and National championships. One
swimmer is even an Olympic Swimmer.
